Certeon Receives Ready for Rational Validation

aCelera software maximizes Rational ClearCase developer productivity over the WAN

Certeon, the industry’s first vendor to offer a virtualized appliance for application acceleration, has announces that it has validated its aCelera software with IBM through the Ready for IBM Rational program. Certeon received validation for accelerating Rational ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) performance and reducing CCRC response time over the WAN by more than 90 percent.

In May 2008, Certeon announced the industry’s first and only true virtual appliance for application acceleration. Certeon’s aCelera™ software delivers an up to 95% reduction in application response time for applications being accessed across the WAN. aCelera software speeds the remote response time performance of all applications going over the WAN and optimizes mission critical applications, such as Rational ClearCase software configuration management (SCM) solutions. aCelera software also provides IT managers with the added benefit of eliminating the hardware footprint and high cost of separately managed single-purpose hardware appliances for WAN optimization and application acceleration.

According to Certeon CEO, Peter Dougherty, “Remote developer productivity can greatly suffer from inherent WAN issues such as low bandwidth and high latency. These network issues can negatively impact CCRC developers’ check-in/check-out and synchronization times and slow down developer collaboration. aCelera software significantly reduces and optimizes the amount of application traffic that goes over the network, maximizing CCRC responsiveness and developer productivity.”

Tests performed by Certeon to obtain Ready for IBM Rational validation demonstrated that with aCelera software improved the response time performance of CCRC SCM functions by more than 90 percent. Certeon has published a whitepaper entitled, Acceleration Performance Tests for IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC), which tested both single- and multi-user test cases. Certeon is currently in the process of testing other Rational SCM products, such as ClearCase Native Client and ClearQuest.

aCelera Virtual Appliance software is the perfect union of virtualization and application acceleration technology and delivers a combination of performance, scalability, flexibility and easy management. aCelera runs on industry standard hardware, including IBM x86 servers, eliminating the need for costly, hard to manage proprietary hardware appliances. aCelera software is supported by VMware ESX and ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisors.

aCelera reduces the response time of many mission critical applications in addition to Rational ClearCase solutions, such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint/M OSS, and Exchange. For those developers working in distributed application development environments, aCelera will increase their productivity while accessing multiple applications over the WAN.

Certeon’s aCelera Virtual Appliance software is the industry’s first and only virtual appliance to deliver acceleration, virtualization and manageability when remotely accessing applications throughout a distributed enterprise. aCelera Virtual Appliances reduce application response time over the WAN by more than 95% without proprietary hardware appliances. aCelera is optimized for mission critical applications such as: software configuration management, enterprise content management, Web-based collaboration, and wide area file services. aCelera is flexible and easy to deploy delivering faster, more scalable applications, and enabling greater user productivity.
